A word of caution
By aj reznor
This goes for any Zmodo system, at least ones that use the DVR-H9108V DVR.The intention with using the Zmodo system was so that the camera feeds could be monitored from any desktop PC (works with IE only. Really.) in the environment. I discovered that after installing and plugging in to my LAN that the system sends ARP packets every two seconds, which apparently is enough to interfere with a separate streaming video server. If you configure a DNS server in the network setup, it makes a request for a server (www.server.cn, was it?) in China, *every two seconds*.I can't see any reason for this and don't know if this was a lame hack by their engineers to just get something to work right they couldn't figure out, or if it's a serious bug they completely missed. Haven't heard back from support, and likely won't, given that it's not just a "How can I...?" type of question. So, if you want a LAN-enabled monitoring system, look elsewhere.

Good home security system
By W. Kirby
I purchased this system to cover the outside of my home and garage. I was actually able to use 6 cameras to cover my outside and used 2 inside the garage. The images are clear and I have 2 cameras set to send emails when motion is detected. Also works great on keeping tabs on my dogs when I'm at work. There was plenty of cable. I didn't have to buy anything extra. I'm very satisfied with this system.

Decent system
By Sharp
This is a great starting security system. Night Vision works well in pitch black darkness.Reasons I took away a star.1Camera has failed (1/2 of the Red LED lights stopped working, so it only picks up half of the viewable area in Darkness. Works fine during the day, but 1 side is blurred at night.System was difficult to learn for tech savy (about 2 days). I sat in front of the camera system which shows I did read the manual front to back. Took about 2 days to learn everything. Things like learning the difference between normal recording and alarm mode. After learned it's pretty easy understanding though.Backing up video. I have backed up a few videos, but unable to watch them on anything else. Still looking into this, but so far the few video converters from the company have not worked. No Zoom (allows Zoom in with blur, but no Zoom out). I think these cameras are set at a pretty close range only, but can give facial recognition within 10 feet.I plan to buy better Cameras when I find them and keep these 8 for inside/Front door use.

Don't bother
By Ren Rainey
We ordered 2, so it's not just a fluke. From bad to worse, the light has no feedback mechanism when turning it on via remote, so you don't know if it's actually armed. The sensor is recessed and so it has a very limited field of view. Last but not least, even when armed, it has a long delay, somewhere around 45 seconds from the time that it detects motion, before it sounds an alarm. 45 seconds is a long time is someone has just broken into your house and is headed up the stairs. I'm not sure why they designed it like this, as it completely defeats the purpose of the alarm. We returned both units. We have a Brinks alarm that functions the same way, only it works, and it works instantly. So we will be looking for more of those.

3 defective devices!
By M. Howard
Swann Home Series "PIR Motion Light Alarm, SWHOM-ALARMP": I bought one and followed the directions exactly. The light function worked correctly, sensing motion. The alarm/light function did not work. I returned it to the store and got another one. Same thing. I called the manufacturer to see if there was something I was doing wrong. I was not. The manufacturer sent me a third device. Same thing, no alarm. Customer service directed me to return the store bought item to the store and send back to the manufacturer the one they sent me. End of story. I have never had a like experience, three defective devices. What is wrong with this company?

Great Baby Monitor!
By Simone Ollen
We use it on a channel on our kitchen TV and we move the camera to whatever room the kids are playing in. It works great! Very reasonable price, too.

Love it
By dancingdiva
I bought this product from a local retailer, but bought an additional camera later. I have used both cameras outside for three years. One is protected from the elements, the other is not. I can record because I hooked the monitor into an old tv with vcr. I have been extremely happy with this product because I had marauding teens, who thought it was great fun to throw eggs, trash, etc. and mess with cars. I put a small sticker in my window stating that the premises were under surveillance. At first the kids thought it was a joke, until I opened the door and caught them in the act. Their looks were priceless, they cussed and fussed, but they leave my property alone which was the intent of having the cameras in the first place. BTW, I don't live in a bad neighborhood, just some teens have too much unsupervised time on their hands.

Satisfied

We bought this nearly a year ago to use as a baby monitor, and it has worked perfectly for that purpose. It has been powered 24/7 since the day we bought it with no issues. Reception is good - I have installed the receiver in the adjacent room as well as across the house on the lower level. Daylight resolution is decent; nighttime resolution is adequate for viewing specific targets. You will probably be disappointed in the wide-angle viewing capabilities at night - the light collection is center-heavy with dramatic visibility drop toward the edges. That isn't an issue for us since we are pointed directly at our baby's bed. Sound sensitivity is good. I have connected this receiver to my PC AV tuner and recorded video of our daughter playing in her crib. We would buy this product again.
