A Disaster Labeled a Camera
By J. Moulton
I got this camera yesterday, and it lasted about 6 Hours. The pan is broken on it. Out of the box, it made a cracking/clicking sound at one part of its pan track. Now it doesn't pan at all. I'm returning it for that reason. However, if that hadn't happened, I've still got a plethora of reasons to return it. The camera software can only be called foul. It uses Quicktime in the web server apparently to stream the video/audio. When you switch from settings to viewing the camera you have to wait 15 seconds EVERY time while Quicktime initializes. Moreover, there is approximately a three second delay between events in the world and their being displayed. The camera cannot be adjusted for proper color. The best I could get (which was unacceptable) was by setting brightness and contrast to max and saturation to zero. There is no hue adjustment. If you're considering this camera, don't. Get a Foscam F19821W for approximately $20+ instead. I just bought both cameras, and if the Wansview were worth its price, the Foscam would be worth several hundred more. To be fair, the IR seems to work fairly well, but that's all. Save yourself some grief and skip this one.
