Great product for the price.

A security company in my hometown recommended this product. They wanted $600 for the product, plus installation. I got this unit for close to a third of that, so I saved over $300. Knowing what I know now I would have done it again. I didn't get the keyfob in the original shipment, but after a phone call they shipped it out that day free of charge. The third party company I bought it from was great. They even helped me when I had questions setting up the unit.Installation took about 6 hours. About 2 hrs to go over the instructions and configure everything, 2 hrs to install the door units and motion detector, 2 hrs for the main unit. The configure time was a bit long due to figuring out the instructions. It comes with 4 instuction books, 2 of which are pretty thick. The unit can become very complicated, because it can be connected (wirelessly) to all kinds of devices. But, once you realize that you can skip most of the instructions it isn't too difficult to configure and install.We installed ours so that the main unit electricity wires went behind the walls, so that too a fair amount of time. Other than that everything is wireless. I didn't hook my unit to my phone line, but that can be done. Installing the doors units and motion detector was pretty straightforward. You can either install with screws or double sided tape, both of which are included.We've been using the unit for about 4 weeks now and it works great. I would recommend it for someone who wants to do the install yourself without running a lot of wires.

Simple but Effective

The Honeywell Lynx Wireless Home Security System is a simple security tool that is easy to use. The instructions give you everything you need to know and when set up it works like any general security system. It may not be on par with the likes of Fortress GSM G5 Wireless Home Alarm System with iPhone/Android App & RFID TechnologyA, but this product from Honeywell should fit in your home for any looking for a simple security system

Had some trouble with ours.

I had an Ademco Lynx REN system that I installed myself more than seven years ago. Programming it was tough, but not impossible and in general, the system worked well for us. We had the talking version and the audio for that function stopped working about two years ago. No more audible warning beeps to disarm the system upon entering, etc. I recently upgraded our panel to the Lynx Touch, which still supports my 5800 series transmitters, but found the Lynx Touch SIGNIFICANTLY easier to set up, program and use than the controller featured here. I cannot recommend this unit given the audio failure. Buy a Lynx Touch instead.

Good camera, poor software and support

The picture quality with this camera is very good and the remote controls work reliably well. The sound quality is poor but OK if you were just going to use this as a baby monitor rather than to hear a conversation. Connects well in an internal home network or wireless network.The problem with this product is that it will not connect as an internet camera. Unlike other products that provide connections through an external website maintained by the manufacturer this camera has no such support. You cannot connect to the camera from outside your own home network. The instructions provided do not resolve this unless you can subscribe to a service assigning you a static IP address. The instructions are helpful they simply do not work if you wish to connect to this camer over the internet. Lots of other IP cameras will do so, so you should shop for those if this is important to you.

I could not get the software to install properly. The seller was a great in trying to help me, but it is hard passing emails back and forth. I did get the camera to work, had great picture. But could not utilize other features because of the installation.

If you have more than four X10 cameras in your surveillance system, then you know that scanning between cameras is a little tricky. You have to manually turn off one camera, then turn on the next camera. It wasn't as easy to scan 4 cameras as 8 cameras! Now you can get a NEW smart solution to multi-camera scanning! Now you can push one button and scan among all the cameras in your system, whether you have 4 or 16! Its the answer you've been looking for! How it works: The default setting for the remote is to control 1 group of four cameras. To set it to scan through more than four cameras, the customer has to configure the number of cameras. This is easy to do: First, slide the switch at the bottom of the remote to "Program" (See photo on left.) and hold down the button corresponding to the total number of cameras (if 6 cameras, button 6) (the LED will blink to indicate that the change is made) then slide the switch back to "Normal" while still holding down the button. Now the scan button will work for all the cameras configured. .Because the 4 camera groups built into the addressable power supplies (XM10A) remain unchanged, the ScanPower Director sends off commands to accomplish the scanning function.
