IMPORTANT NOTE (about house power-line intercom system) :

1) INTERCOM UNITS TRANSMIT AND RECEIVE FM MODULATED AUDIO SIGNAL FROM ONE UNIT TO ANOTHER BY USING HOUSE ELECTRICAL WIRES AS CARRIER.

THEY MUST BE CONNECTED IN AC OUTLETS THAT ARE ON THE SAME BREAKER BOX, NOT SEPARATED BY SUB-PANELS OR BY DIFFERENT BREAKER BOXES.

Most AC outlets operate on one circuit; but some outlets may be on multiple circuits. If the intercom system is not plugged into same power meter of the wire, they are NOT on the same phase/line, they will NOT communicate.

If you used power line carrier intercom before, it should be no problem to use our intercom system.

2) Power-line intercom uses the AC power line as the medium. It is subject to any interference already existed (like CFL, AC AM/FM clock radio) in the power-line. Static noise interferences feed into power-line by unfavorable appliances with characteristics of hums, buzz. There is about 5 to 10% of the households are affected by this kind of interference. There is NO defectiveness with the system.

3) If you are first time user of intercom; please click FAQ (frequently asked question) section or contact us for details.

I've owned 5 of these for almost a year now and if I had to do it over again, I would not buy them again. I remember when I first bought them I had to return a couple because when they were turned on they would make a humming sound, kind of like when you are near a power transformer. Since they were being put into bedrooms, the humming sound was very annoying in the dead silence of night. In case it wasn't clear in the description, you plug these units into the electrical outlets in your house and when you press the talk button, it transmits the signal over your electrical wires. The bad thing about that is interference, alot of times you can't even hear the person, especially if one or more of the oven/washing machine/microwave/dryer/computers are on. The one intercom machine in our 4th bedroom works every now and then, the machine is fine but the electrical wiring in the room or something causes it not to work all the time, the channel doesn't matter, so it's pretty much useless. The one in my bedroom and kitchen usually work pretty good, but like I mentioned, alot of times there is too much static. And yes, we've tried between all 3 channels, it doesn't matter. These intercoms could work okay in your home, but if you buy these, it's essentially a crap shoot whether they will work right in your house, so be prepared to return them. That is why I would try to buy an intercom system that truly communicates wirelessly, not over the power lines. What's amazing to me is we have technology that lets us talk to people across the world clearly, yet I cannot find an in home intercom system that works flawlessly. There are no intercom products reasonably priced that have good reviews here on Amazon....are you kidding me?The only thing I found that looked like it would work good is the product below, but it wasn't designed to be an in house intercom system and would be expensive to buy 5 units.http://www.amazon.com/MURS-TWO-WAY-BASE-STATION-RADIO/dp/B0002XQWF2/ref=cm_cr_pr_product_top
