dont let the picture fool you!!

I bought one of these Emerson jumbo caller id boxes and i was extremely disappointed.As soon as i hooked it up,the contrast needed to be adjusted because the display wasnt readable at all.Even after adjusting the contrast display to maximum setting,you still cant read the display unless you look at it at a specific angle.Whats the purpose of making a jumbo display if you can only read it at a certain angle?!!?So if your looking for a large caller id display thats easy to read,stay away from this unit!The picture that shows this items caller id display with "John Smiths" name on it is totally fake.This unit doesnt even come close to being read that easily.I returned this item the next day:(

The CALLER ID screen is BARELY VISIBLE, even when staring at it in the middle of the day. Total waste of money.

Info lacking in manual - no response from Southern Telecom

I share the reviews in regard to the display, but decided to keep the unit. Unfortunately, batteries do not last long. It has a 6v input, but the manual does not mention it. I have 6v transformers, but would need the amperage rating. I tried to call Southern Telecom, but just got a run-around with their answering system. I e-mailed over two weeks ago, but received no response. I will be returning the unit if I can't switch to A/C power.
