Terms of warranty

If you have a warranty claim on a new GTO product, you have to pay shipping charges in order to send the item back for repairs or replacement. One would think a company would cover these charges if the item was under warranty. I've owned GTO wireless gate openers since 2003 and have had problems with them in the past, so when these wear out, I'll be checking other residential gate opener manufacturers.

Extra base station

The wireless clarity of the voice is good, even through brick wall at 125 feet. The problem I have is the second base station continues to chime when a call is answered on any other base station. I can hear it from the keypad speaker at the gate in the background. So, if one base station is in the bedroom and one is in the living room... and someone arrives, presses call button, and the call is answered in living room from base station... the one in bedroom is going to continue to chime loudly until the call is ended in the living room after conversation is completed. This is annoying and a major drawback. I would not have bought the extra station based on this. I called the manufacturer and was told that this is normal and there is no correction. The system is able to handle 4 base stations. What a racket that would be as all are chiming while one is being used to talk to the person at the gate.

GTO Wireless Keypad w/ Intercom

Purchased one of these for my Husband's birthday and we love it. The unit is exceptionally easy to use and voices are extremely clear. The instructions stated that the unit would have to be hard wired if the transmitting and receiving devices will be more than 50' apart. Our gate is at least 150' away from the house and we are able to use it w/ just the batteries; no hard wiring was necessary. All functions,(intercom, gate opening & closing features), seem to be working as they should. We use "clickers" for our own entrances and exits and the keypad and intercom does not interfere with their use. Seems to be a very good product.
