RedAlert PNP-50 Wired Recording Security Kit with Video Recorder & Camera
Product Description
Swann's RedAlert is a discreet, compact, movement video recorder that can be used as an entry-level security solution for your home, office or retail store. With a PNP-50 camera included in the pack, you can take the kit home and plug & play from day one.
The PNP-50 camera is wired so you can avoid the interference that is associated with analog wireless cameras. There is a 60ft (18m) cable included in this pack, along with all the connectors and mounting screws you need to install the camera in your home. The PNP-50 has 400 TV lines for good quality video images and night vision up to 16ft 5m to allow you to have short range viewing during the night. Its compact size means the camera can be used discreetly without arousing suspicion.
Recording is easy. Add a SD card (not included) to store AVI videos or jpeg images (ie: 2GB SD card can store over 4,000 videos - 10 seconds each, recorded at 3 second intervals / 28,000 jpeg images). You can easily backup recorded incidents from the SD card to your PC via a card reader. Then store them on your hard drive or email them to others.
Installation is easy. View live footage after you have connected the RedAlert to the yellow AV socket of your TV. The RedAlert is upgradeable as you can add a wireless second camera to see 2 views and alternate in picture-in-picture mode. However, you can only record 1 channel at a time.
The RedAlert / PNP-50 Wired Security Kit gives you stable video images and an affordable recording solution to catch shoplifters, thieves, monitor cleaners and staff, screen visitors and more.
Do-it-yourself - plug into your TV's yellow AV socket Built-in PIP (Picture-In-Picture) to view 1 wireless camera Includes RedAlert, camera, cable and everything you need to get started, just add an SD card (not included)

Useless -- doesn't record, and only takes 2GB cards
By Maya Cointreau
DON'T buy it. The product description is misleading -- it does not tell you what the product manual does, which is that it will ONLY work with cards UP TO 2 GB. so I bought a 16MB card, but because the redalert is incompatible with the SDHC format, it won't record. This is very upsetting, because now I have to buy a 2MB card, which means I have to go another couple days without video surveillance at my store. It is also upsetting because I thought I'd be able to record more video. A 2GB card is not going to store very much footage :(The video directly from the camera itself to a TV is great. But now that I have gone out and gotten a 2GB card, the camera STILL won't record. Why? Because I have the "wrong" sensitivity settings. But at no setting will it record. AND every time you remove the SD card to check to see if it did record, the RedAlert resets itself to all it's factory settings. So you have to spend 5-10 minutes setting it up. AGAIN. This is a nice camera, with a JUNK recording system better suited to 2002, not 2012. Don't bother. I'm returning mine today.I need this camera to RECORD b/c I have a store and bring my young daughter to work with me. If, god forbid, anything happened, I have to trust that I would have actual recorded images on here. Otherwise, I might as well just buy a dummy camera.

Didn't work
By Musicexplorer
I should have tested it before I installed the cable. DVR unit didn't work. Was too much a hassle to remove the cabling and send the whole package back so I bought a separate DVR from the vender for 20 bucks and the system works now.I wanted a cheap security camera/ DVR set-up without a hard drive. Not the best resolution, but a better camera would fix that. I would recommend buying the the DVR unit and a better video camera.

Product was shipped with missing power supply
By Ray Matthews
It looked like a very good product and it arrived on time but the power supply for the Video Recording was missing. I contacted Swann who said that the product was not covered under warranty because it was sold by a company that was not an authorized Swann dealer and they could not provide the power supply. Also the product is not in production and they said it maybe difficult to find the power supply. The product is unusable without the power supply!
